TPM gets nominations for :
Best Sound Effects Editing
Best Sound
Best Visual Effects

Our Opinion:
TPM was swindled! We deserved more. At least Costumes, Music... anyways, the decision has been made; and sadly it wasn't ours. What's important it, we loved the film. And.. there are two more to come...

Our Speculations:

Actor in a Leading Role
Jake Lloyd as Anakin? I think not. The problem with TPM is that it has no strong lead character. Or rather has many of them. so I doubt (unless the panel is made of Star Wars fans!) that this award will go to TPM.

Actor in a Supporting Role
Liam Neesson, Ewan McGregor and Jake Lloyd (yes, even Jake Lloyd!) in contention. I'd like to think that one Neesson would get a nomination, though it does seem far fetched. But if it is going to be anyone, it's going to be Qui-Gon sir himself.

Actress in a Leading Role
Call her Padme, call her Amidala or call her Mrs. Skywalker to be; Natalie Portman's our only hope! Though not a strong one...realistically, no hope here!

Actress in a Supporting Role
Sadly, there was none; unless of course we hand it to Kaira Knightley for Handmaiden Sabe! That would be nice; because she was the 'Supporting Actress', right?

Art Direction
This is a good one; this could be ours! With no Elizabeths and Shakespeares in Love to compete against.. this might be a good year to compete for this award.

Cinematography
This is another sure winner; or so I think. Never know with the Oscars, you know.

Costume Design
I don't think there is another film in history that could beat TPM to this one. It has to be TPM; or we shall ban the Oscars from the face of the Earth... or rather this galaxy and the one far, far away!

Directing
George Lucas deserves this one; for sure. If anyone is to be credited for the success of TPM and Star Wars in general, it's him. But I've gotta say, I have a bad feeling about this! This one might not go to dear George!

Film Editing
Well, Ben Burtt and Paul-Martin Smith sure might get a nomination for this one; but an award? Well, it might just be the story with TPM... too successful, too many fans to be Oscar material. Very few films please both the fans and the Oscar panel. It's a trade-off.

Makeup
Another sure-hit! The Force is strong with this category! I don't see any contenders for this one; it's TPM all the way...

Original Dramatic Score
I hope this one is a winner. There has not been a more enthralling score in some time; I believe this to be better than the original score. Many believe that it must have been easy for Williams to compose the score becaue he had the originals to work with. I think, it must have been much harder to create completely new themes with mere hints of the previous work. This is a sure nomination; and I wish it gets the Oscar!

Best Picture
Nope! However much we hope/pray/demand/cry-for this award; it's not coming our way! This one is for the 'Titanic''s and the 'My Left Foot' (great movie; but against Star Wars?) of the galaxy. We just have to control our anger; because it will only lead us to the dark side...

Sound
Possible. Nomination - yes! Award - I'd say yes; but for the fickle Oscar panel.

Sound Effects Editing
No fickle Oscar panel. Skywalker Sound rules the galaxy...err world! They win; hands down!

Visual Effects
As I said... Hands Down!
