REBEL ALLIANCE A dedicated combat capital ship, it is designed to be fast and deadly. At 120 metres long, it usually carries eight double turbo laser canons, six quad laser canons, and four concussion missile launch tubes. Engines fill more than half its interior. With a small command crew and technical staff- the ship is an excellent antistarfighter platform. The new Republic makes extensive use of these vessels. Full
name: Imperial / Alliance Dreadnaught The Dreadnaught was built in the days of the Old Republic. For its time, it was the best ship of the starfleet and it fought in many wars. During the Clone Wars, the Old Republic selected 200 Dreadnaughts and located them in the Katana Fleet. These Dreadnaughts had a special link system, so they didn't aquire a full crew. Just before the Katana fleet would start its massive attack on the deadly clones, all crew members were infected with a virus, that made them mad, and finally killed them. During their insanity, they linked all the ships together and made the jump to lightspeed. The fleet disappeared and wasn't found for years. Five years after the Battle of Endor, Grand Admiral Thrawn found the fleet and captured 180 of the 200 Dreadnaughts to use them in his battle against the New Republic. However, the ships were less used when, short before the rise of the Empire, the Victory-class Star Destroyer was designed. This ship was much better in combat than the less-armed Dreadnaught, and the heavy starship was no more the standard in the Republic fleet. But during the Galactic Civil War, a number of Dreadnaughts were used by both the Alliance and the Empire. They refitted the old spaceships and modified them with larger fuel chambers, a better maneuverability and a higher speed. They have been used several years by both armies until the fall of the Empire.

name: Mon Calamari MC80 Star Cruiser The Mon Calamari Cruisers are designed at the shipyards of the planet with the same name, and were originally used for pleasure cruises and to explore the galaxy outside the Mon Cal-system. Each Calamari Cruiser has an unique design and is completely individualy made. Most of them have domes and curves to give the ships an organic look. When the Galactic Civil War broke out, and the Imperial New Order began to spread around the galaxy, the Mon Calamari modified their ships for military use and located them around their homeplanet. But some years later, when admiral Ackbar joined the Rebel Alliance, he convinced the Calamari to donate their warships to the fleet of the Alliance. The Mon Calamari Cruiser quickly became the most powerful ship of the Rebel starfleet, and most of the cruisers got leading positions, as command or flagships. Because of their great firepower and good shielding, the Calamari Cruiser was almost as strong as an Imperial Star Destroyer. They were well-armored and they could carry 1200 troops and 120 starfighters. Their unique design was especially made for Mon Calamari, and they were most effective with Calamari crew. The Battle of Endor was the first major battle in which the Mon Calamari Cruiser fought, and the ship proved itself. The flagship of the fleet was the Home One, in which admiral Ackbar took command of the Rebel fleet. A type II Calamari Cruiser with flaps, the Liberty, was destroyed by the second Death Star's superlaser. Other Calamari Cruisers are the Defiance - Ackbar's private ship, the Independence, the Freedom, and the Mon Remonda.

Drive Yard EF76 Nebulon-B Frigate The designer of the Nebulon-B Frigate, Kuat Drive Yards, also produced the Imperial Star Destroyer, and has always been loyal to the Empire. The Nebulon-B or Escort Frigate was designed to attack starfighters during battles, for that reason very precise weapons are stationed on the starship. In the early days of its existence, Rebels succeeded in capturing the plans and began producing their own Escort Frigate's. The Alliance used the Frigate especially as a transport for wounded Rebels, and for that case they removed many of the weapon systems and replaced them for life-support systems, such as bacta tanks and other medical equipments. That's why the Escort Frigate was soon mentioned the 'Medical Frigate'. On the Medical Frigate Redemption Luke Skywalker got his artificial hand, after his battle with Darth Vader on Cloud City. The military Nebulon-B Frigate was also in use by the Alliance, for escorting and rescue missions. The military frigate has more weapons than a standard one, and can carry more starfighters. They are strong shielded and have twelve turbo- and lasercannons, and room for twenty-four starfighters. Because they were made to repel starfighter attacks, they can survive many skirmishes unharmed Cargo ships that are the workhorses of the galaxy, they haul goods from planet to planet. Lightly armed bulk freighters depend upon hyperdrive engines andwell patrolled space lanes to steer clear of trouble, Most of these midsized ships belong to private owners These Rebel, and later New Republic ships are actually Imperial Dreadnaught heavy cruisers that have been painstakingly and cleverly modified to create combat starships 700 metres lonf. While Imperial ships required crew of 16,000, the Alliance retooling has reduced the crew requirements by more than two-thirds. Removing tons of superstructure has increased engine capacity while lowered fuel consumption. The addition of two rear solar fins has made the assault frigates faster and more maneuverable. The frigates usually carry about 100 troops or 7,500 metric tons of cargo. They each carry a modified assault shuttle piggyback atop their superstructure, while twenty umbilical docking tubes can be used for light freighters and starfighters. The ships are armed with fifteen regularand twenty quad laser cannons along with fifteen turbo laser batteries.
