11th February, 2000 No, I'm not. I just said that to grab your attention. And it seems I have succeeded, because you're reading this. A lot of other people seem to have been using the same line ("I am Anakin") for the same purpose; to grab YOUR attention. And boy are we giving it to them. Don't get me wrong here, I'm not against the sites that are posting the new Anakin rumor every minute. I've done it myself here, only because that's sort of our job. We report Star Wars; be it inane rumors, or what Doug Chiang ate for lunch. If it's worth reading, it's reported. You want to read it. That's why you find it. Don't blame the messenger; because I am one too! :-) The issue is a much vaguer; but annoying one. I guess that's because most vague things are annoying. It's sort of a property of vagueness. But getting back to the point (I keep getting off on a tangent, don't I?), the issue is that there are just too many Anakins here. Don't get me wrong-o, I like Anakin; he's a nice guy, and he grows up to be the meanest dude around. I just don't like the "Almost Anakins", as I like to refer to them. The problem with them is that there are too many of them. Out of nowhere, we have about 10 "almost Anakins", no confirmations, lots of young semi-popular or totally unknown young guys whose names start with the letter 'J'; all claiming to be the most feared Sith Lord in the galaxy. And it's not an easy job to do. Neither is it an easy job to get. If it was, I really would be Anakin. But I'm not. And neither are at least 9 of the "almost Anakins" out there; and probably all 10 of them. I don't care any more; I get a feeling that neither does anybody else (barring the fact that there is a sizable group of people who wouldn't like to see a certain Jack Dawson of the "Big Ship that Sunk" as the Dark Lord, but that's another story!). Get it over with George. We have too many
people out there who think they are Darth Vader. It's too much pressure.
Not on them. On us.
